Your Weekly Update

July 19th, 2023

Dear Rotarians,

Welcome to your first monthly highlight newsletter! We have the honor of highlighting our new Rotary Club President this week. Meet Julia!

President Julia Parton Rosas

You know her, you love her, she is our new president! The communications department would like this opportunity to shine a light on our new President, Julia Parton.

Julia was born in San Diego and raised in Palos Verdes. She is a graduate of Rolling Hills High School and California State University, Dominguez Hills. She has spent her entire career working in the South Bay and has over 30 years of expertise and experience in managing staff, marketing, and community relations. Highly regarded in the community for her public service, Julia enjoys giving back to the community and currently serves on several boards in the community, including PVPHS Athletic Booster Club, PV Juniors, Toberman Neighborhood Center, Peninsula Seniors, and Switzer Learning Center.

Beyond work and volunteering, this is Julia’s second term as our President and she is a second-generation Rotarian!!

Julia’s father, Jim Parton, was president of the Manhattan Beach Rotary Club and long-time member of the Rotary Club of Palos Verdes Peninsula. Julia considers family the most important thing in her life. She has two sisters and a brother. Her parents have both passed. She and her wonderful husband, Richard, have two sons – and she is extremely proud of both!

In her words, “My goals for the new rotary year is for our club to continue to be professional, engaging, and fun! Seek to support each other and our vocations, while working hard to give back to those in need. I would love to have open conversations about what the members want from the club and ask that each member sign up to be on one committee and get involved! Many hands make light work and fond memories!”

With new projects already in the works, we know this will be a wonderful year for our club! Congratulations, Julia, and sending you best wishes for the year!

Our First WNL

Many thank you's to Amanda and Suzie for a fabulous first WNL. We met at Pointe Vicente Interpretive Center for food, fellowship, and fun. The best part was hosting our new friends from PearTree Lane and President Julia welcomed them with open arms. It means so much to bring relief to those closest to home. Good job, team!
