Your Weekly Update

 

  We have 10 PVP Rotarians and Guests signed up to attend this year's Rotary Foundation Celebration. It will be on the USS Iowa and promises to be a great time. If you haven't signed up yet, email me or sign up on the sheet that will be passed around at the meeting.

  Also Alan Bond announced information about the annual Opportunity Drawing tickets. This year the District decided to go back to offering paper tickets so make sure you pick them up at the meeting.

  Finally, the District is looking for donations for the auction. We have forms to pass out. The suggested value of the items should be at least $300.

Prof. Frank Chindamo, CHP, founded LaughMD, Inc. to answer the question, “If Laughter is the Best Medicine, why don’t we use it as medicine?” LaughMD has conducted 5 studies showing that its comedy video app lowered stress and pain in over 90% of patients, in one study, by over 60%.  100's of other studies have shown the power of humor in controlling pain being very effective. Soon he will release an App that will have 40 thousand short videos that are hilarious and clean. As other Apps, its algorithm will quickly determine the user's sense of humor and present those.

Article 3: Election of Directors and Officers 
Section 1 - A nominating committee shall be chaired by the President-elect. who shall convene the meeting, and shall comprise the President-elect, the Immediate Past-President, the current President, and four members at large. The four members at large shall be selected at random from the pool of active members in good standing and who have been members for at least one year. While it will be the duty of selected members to participate in the nominating process, two alternatives will also be selected randomly in case one or more of the primary selections refuse to serve. The names of the nominating committee shall be published in La Rotaci6n at least one week prior to the Nominating Committee's first meeting. This committee shall be selected by December 31st. The current Secretary will be the manager of the nominating committee selection process. 
Section 2 - At a regular meeting at least one month prior to the meeting for the election of officers. the President-elect shall ask for nominations by members of the club for President, Secretary, Treasurer, and eleven (1 I) directors. The nominations slate may be presented by a nominating committee member or by members from the floor by either or by both, as the club may determine. All norninations duly made shall be placed on a ballot in alphabetical order under each office and shall be voted for at the election meeting. The candidate for each director position receiving a majority of the votes shall be declared elected. All elected oflicials will assume their positions on July 1st. 
Section 3 - A vacancy in the Board or any office shall be filled by action of the remaining directors. 
Section 4 - A vacancy in the position of any officer-elect or director-elect shall be filled by action of the remaining directors-elect. 

We have a membership application submitted by Judi Rawie-Rook of Rancho Palos Verdes. She has attended several meetings and is ready to join. She is a writer, communicator, and producer. Make sure to welcome her in the PVP Rotary style!
