It's hard to believe we're entering August and the end of summer is in sight! But, as always, it's an exciting Rotary time as we gear up for fall events and welcome some very special guests in the coming weeks.
A few important club reminders to start us off. We have a board meeting on August 11th, so board members please make sure to mark your calendars.
August 11th also marks a special day for the club as we will be visited by our District Governor!
Our impressive new DG is a former Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar who received the extraordinary opportunity to go to then West Germany from Japan to study at the prestigious Albert Ludwigs Universitaet, Freiburg after college. To serve as your DG is her way of giving back to Rotary and to the American people.
We are so excited to welcome DG Makiko Nakasone to Palos Verdes Peninsula and support her in her New Year’s resolutions, which are:
1. To Support the Rotary Foundation.
2. To Promote Rotary.
3. To Grow Rotary!

This Friday at the club we have Jessica Slawson presenting. Jessica is a Management Analyst within the City Manager’s Office at the City of Rolling Hills Estates. She’s been with the City for the past seven years serving as a public safety liaison to the Los Angeles County Sheriff and Fire Departments.
Jessica is responsible for community engagement efforts within the city to strengthen community relationships with an emphasis on emergency preparedness. It should be fascinating so don't miss it!
