We are thrilled to bring back La Rotacion! It's been a chaotic few years as we've had to pivot and regroup constantly trying to navigate the wild ride called Covid-19. But, as we charge towards 2023, we are delighted as much of life has returned to normal and we have an exciting year planned for our PVP club. FYI, mark your calendars because District Governor Olivia Patterson-Ryans is visiting the club on Friday August 26th!
Now, while August has been a quiet month as many of our Rotarians are finishing up their summer travels, our meetings have stayed up to snuff with great speakers like Jeremy Brown from the Carson Gardena Dominquez Rotary. He gave a heart-warming presentation on RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Academy).
RYLA is an extraordinary program that accepts freshman through juniors from schools in the area and scholarships them to spend two days up at camp. Over the weekend, the teens engage in activities that will help them become better leaders and improve their emotional and mental health.
To scholarship a teen to RYLA costs $300. Our club has the ability to sponsor six kids. As of this moment, we have the cost of four kids covered and will be fundraising at our Wednesday Night Lives for the additional two kids. If you missed the meeting, trust us when we report back that this program makes a huge difference in so many lives.
Our Newest Member: Andrew Hur
In other exciting news, we had the pleasure of inducting a new member to the club this past August 5th. Please make sure to welcome Andrew Hur when you see him! Andrew is a financial advisor who lives in the area with his wife and young child. We look forward to getting to know you better, Andrew!
