We’ll return to our weak attempt at humor after these announcements:

August 2: Club meeting and paddle board documentary (that is not a typo)
Ongoing: Don’t throw away your Rotary Magazines, bring them to club meetings (not sure if you can fill in the crossword page)
Back to the satire:
Today’s speaker was Judge Elizabeth Allen White aka the notorious EAW. Judge White got her start in jurisprudence while attending pre-school in Redondo Beach where she was the snack monitor and all-around teacher’s pet. In High School she was voted most likely to “throw the book at you” which left her no real alternative to going to college and then law school. The culmination of her 40-year legal career was her presentation to the PVP Rotary Club entitled: “What’s the Best Method of Dispute Resolution”. According to Judge EAW, there are three methods: Litigation, Arbitration and Mediation. Interestingly all three involve sums of money being transferred to attorneys, judges or retired judges. She than illustrated these methods with a case study “high” lighted by the aforementioned Mary Juana and Paula Potter. The Judge certainly knew her audience since she was deluged with questions on the case, although most had to do with location, hours and inventory of the “dispensary”.
Her written hand-out concluded with a litigation flow-chart. Simplified here due to space limitations:
Complaint
Do you have money?
Yes = give $ to attorney
No = quit complaining!
