Story #1

Nagi Ozturk

Sings God Bless America

at Foundation Celebration

Our own fellow PVP Rotarian Nagi Ozturk took to the stage at the annual Foundation Celebration and blessed all those in attendance with her incredible voice. Nagi is not only talented at being a singer, she is also the consummate professional. Even though the  sound engineer had some difficulty and the music got cut off half way through the performance, Nagi covered it like a pro!
We are proud to have Nagi as a member of our club!

Story # 2

Octavia of Kwa-Zulu, South Africa

First Recipient of Hippo Roller

Made Possible by Donations

from PVP Rotary

Each week, as a speaker gift, in honor of our speaker we donate funds to Unity Water Foundation to purchase Hippo Rollers for those with challenges to access clean water. Above is a picture of Octavia who lives in South Africa shortly after receiving her Hippo Roller.
Like many in her community, Octavia has lived without running water. Fetching water meant countless trips to a distant communal tap using buckets she carried by hand, despite her age, the demands of caregiving and the life limiting illness she is managing. The daily effort, especially for someone of her years, was exhausting.
When the team from Unity Water Foundation and Midlands Hospice arrived with her new #HippoRoller, something extraordinary happened.
After explaining what it was and how it worked, Octavia burst into tears of joy, then laughed, then cried again. The relief was overwhelming. She did a little happy dance and took the Hippo Roller for a “test drive,” then sat on it with a chuckle, realizing it made a good seat if she needed a break.
It was a moving moment filled with gratitude and pure, raw emotion which touched everyone there.
This gift was made possible by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary, Los Angeles County, California (Rotary International - District 5280). Their generosity reached across the globe and rolled straight into Octavia’s yard, delivering not just water, but hope, joy, and dignity.
