Rick Mendoza has received on behalf of our club an invitation to participate in a very special event sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tijuana. Each January, their club hosts a beautiful tradition - Dia de Los Reyes, where they bring joy to nearly 400 severely disabled children and their families in Tijuana. With breakfast, games, a live show, and a special gift of a toy and blanket for every chile, the day is filled with love, dignity, and hope. PVP Rotary is invited to be part of this celebration, as donors, volunteers, or both.
It takes place at El Trompo Museum in Tijuana on Saturday 17, 2026 from 8:00 - Noon, with a BBQ fellowship to follow at a Rotarian's home. They suggest we arrive Friday so they can show some of their projects. The Marriott offers an exclusive Rotary Rate.
We might consider going dark that Friday if there is enough interest.
Daniel has been reaching out to local Rotarians while traveling repeatedly to southern Alabama on business. He has met over 20 people from 5 or 6 clubs, and has been learning how they put service above self there. This little club in the photo has just 10 members but they raise thousands for a local pharmacy that provides needy people with completely free medications. Another club has increased cervical cancer-eliminating HPV vaccination rates in one county from about 20% to over 80%. And another has figured that Rotary Global Grants can fund worthy projects in Alabama, not just in developing nations. Good hearts and busy hands everywhere!
This year's Holiday Party was at Terranea and was a great success, thanks to the hard work by Minal. Close to 60 members and guests attended. The warm-ish weather allowed us to enjoy the patio for the reception before proceeding inside for some games and a fine meal. Several people said we should celebrate at Terranea again next year. The management and staff really treated us right!
