Friday January 19th Rotary Speaker: We were entertained and inspired by Brady Connell, fellow Rotarian (Playa/Sunrise Rotary Club) and Executive Producer of ABC’s EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION.
For Brady the show was “an amazing experience of giving back”: 200 homes built, all materials donated, 3,000 volunteers on each project. This was life changing, not only for the families helped, but for the volunteers who made a difference in their community. Brady challenged us to make a difference in our community. He complimented us on our “make-over project” of the Switzer Center therapy and conference rooms. He urged us to continue to look for projects and offered to advise us on dealing with local governments, recruiting donated materials and professional services, and mobilizing volunteers. Brady invited us to participate in the District 5280 Habitat for Humanity project that he is spearheading: 25 Rotary volunteers will be needed once a month for this 12-month project.
